Sponge neoprene or neoprene foam is one of the most popular foam gasket materials. It is black molded foam with closed cell foaming structure. The original neoprene foam material comes in sheets (length of 2 m and width of 1 m) out from molding machine. They are easy to work with most of foam fabrication machines such as die cutting, vertical sawing, foam lamination, tape slitting and so on.

The typical foam products of neoprene foam includes neoprene foam gaskets, foam tapes, foam strips and neoprene fabric composites. It has many superior physical properties comparing with other foam rubber materials.Industrial use neoprene gasket with adhesive

Customer Case

This is the neoprene gasket we have produced for Spanish customer. Its size is around 160 mm x 100 mm with 3 mm thickness. Based on our experience, neoprene foam sheet of 3 mm thickness is a frequent choice for gaskets manufacture. The foam gaskets we manufactured will be used for industrial sealing applications. With our precise custom die cut slots through the foam gasket sheet, this neoprene gasket can fit well with machine parts and provide durable cushioning and insulation for machine operation. Also the machine components can be well sealed against oil, air and other chemical fluid.

After production of the foam gasket, our in-house factory staff will need to make custom foam assembly. This can be a very time consuming process in comparison of the whole production turnover time. What we did for this project was adding 3 small pieces of acrylic adhesive pad to one side of the neoprene gasket. We have the capability to arrange the custom assembly. Later before shipping them out, custom white corrugated paper box packaging had been arranged. Our packing workers put the neoprene foam gaskets in boxes as 70 pieces per box. It will be safe and convenient to ship the products to anywhere as customer required.

Closed cell cross linked polyethylene foam can always be one of the best foam gasket material. The polyethylene foam has two main categories - chemical cross-linked polyethylene foam and irradiation cross-linked polyethylene foam. The last on is better and more frequently applied as foam gasket for markets including medical, electronic devices, cosmetic packaging, automotive components, etc..

The irradiation cross-linked polyethylene foam gasket material has other flexibility. Thickness range is available from 0.08 mm to 8 mm. Other thicknesses can be custom made by foam lamination process. Also density can range from 28 kg/m³ to 300 kg/m³. Standard foam colors is white and black. Other colors can be customized including blue, green, red, orange and so on.

Customer Case - Foam Product Application

customer. They will use this PE foam gasket material as cushion joint for their automotive parts. Our cross-linked polyethylene foam gasket works as cushioning part also for oil and fuel resistance. Due to their good elongation ability, they work well when the motor parts is functioning.

How We Make This Foam Gasket

The material for this foam gasket is irradiation cross-linked polyethylene foam with foam expansion ratio of 15 times and 65 kg/m³ of density. The gasket size is 130 mm x 98 mm x 1 mm with custom die cutting.

1) closed cell polyethylene foam gasket materialFirst we need to confirm with customer on product CAD drawings. The product CAD drawings is better to be provided by engineers from customer. On the other hand, if customer lacks of CAD design support, we can do that part of engineering design for customers' product.

2) After confirming the CAD drawing of foam gasket, we will make the steel die cutting mold according to confirmed drawings. Once the die cutting mold ready, our factory staff will arrange the mass production.

3) As for actual fabrication of this foam gasket material, we need to fulfill the below production process:

  • Custom foam sawing

The original polyethylene foam is one kind of extruded foam gasket material. They come in roll not in sheet, our factory staff will need to using our vertical sawing machines to cut them in sheets. These cut polyethylene foam sheets must be at least the same size of the steel die cutting mold or larger.

Before actual production, our production engineers must carefully white closed cell polyethylene foam gasketsinstall the die cut mold and make it well compatibly with die cutting machinery. This process of testing the mold will takes lost of time than customer usually thought. As for a precise cutting outcome, we will use some part of the foam material to make sure the steel mold is well installed. After this, the mass production can be approved to go.

4) The last part we need to do is custom packing for finished foam products before shipment. We will pack the custom foam gasket for better transportation. Custom packaging like printing paper box and poly bags is available from us depending on customer's needs.

Recently we have successfully produced neoprene foam gasket products you could call it foam lipo pads professionally for FPV machines. They are for our customer in Taiwan. After our customer received them, we have been sent back a perfect feedback from him. These foam gaskets are made of our closed cell neoprene rubber foam with high durability and resilience.

At beginning, when we received our customer's inquiry, we found he did not know exactly what material is best suitable to function as cushion for his FPV products and just knew a black foam pad with adhesive backing is needed. Considering the exact application and situation that the foam material will be used inside the FPV frame for long term cushioning and shock absorption, it should be highly durable, resilient and abrasive resistant. So we recommend our Neoprene foam rubber materials with acrylic adhesive backing for this project. Die-cut technique was mainly utilized to realize the custom foam gaskets. Finally the neoprene foam gasket turned out to be a great success and he were much pleased to have the foam gaskets we produced.

Neoprene foam rubber are naturally ideal as foam gasket material comparing with other foam materials. Neoprene foam gaskets are quite widely used for lots of industry usage for cushioning and insulation purposes.

We FOAMTECH has just shipped out a batch of custom tool box foam inserts for our Australian customer. Our customer is a local distributor of metal tool instruments. The custom foam inserts we produced will be put into tool cases and used to hold metal tool instruments later by customer. They are manufactured mainly by exploiting our CNC contour cutting technique after making the two different colors of polyethylene foam laminated together. The foam material we used is black and yellow Polyethylene foam with closed cell construction. It provides good cushioning and protection for the tool instruments. More importantly, due to its good performance on heat and moisture insulation, our cross-linked PE foam can help protect the metal tool instruments from being rusty. Using black and yellow two contrasting colors can effectively and evidently reminder users when there is any missing tools, which can also make our customer's tool products eye-catching for sale.
